I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (CA license, PSY 29817) in private practice. I have been practicing psychotherapy since 2007 and have taken an interest in child psychology and the treatment of anxiety and depression for all ages.
I specialize in working with children and adolescents. Like adults, children also experience anxiety and depression, though they express it differently. Children experience shyness, restlessness, and worry. They worry about school achievement, their social life, and the well-being of their family and loved ones. I incorporate Play Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help children develop a sense of competence, self-esteem, and enhance the feeling of being valued and connected with others. I work closely with parents to establish safety and consistency for the child at home and school. I am trained by the International OCD Foundation to treat of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and other anxiety-related disorders in children and adults. I further work with adults struggling with excessive worry, depressed mood, ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), relationship problems and provide couples therapy.
I am certified in K-9 assisted therapy and often have my therapy dog at work with me (If you have any concerns or allergies, please let me know in advance). Riley is a very friendly, five years old, black lab. He is a trained therapy dog and certified by Operation Freedom Paws, San Martin, CA. and the American Kennel Club. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and my Masters in Psychology with Creative Expression Specialization from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP), Palo Alto, CA.
I am a graduate of Naropa University (Boulder, CO) with a B.A. in Contemplative Psychology, Incorporating Buddhist principles into modern psychology.
